MYFIRSTEV BUYERS

The Program

MyFirstEV offers California residents a point-of-sale incentive for first-time zero-emission vehicle, (ZEV), buyers to purchase or lease a new or used ZEV.  The incentive is applied immediately at the point-of-sale, making the incentive simple to use by reducing paperwork and eliminating reimbursement wait times. The incentive launch and availability will vary by OEM and dealership. Vehicles ordered or purchased before a participating OEM has made the incentive available will not receive the incentive.

The Rebate

First-time EV buyers in California save $3,500 on new and $1,750 on used electric vehicles.  Thirteen  automakers are participating to offer instant rebates for first-time EV buyers. This program does not extend to hybrid-electric vehicles and the rebate has been exhausted for eligible Tesla vehicles and is no longer available, (August 18, 2026).

Participating Automakers

The California rebate offer for Tesla has expired. The rebate is still in effect for Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Lucid, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Rivian, Subaru, Toyota and Volvo.

How it Works

The MyFirstEV program will give buyers instant savings right at the dealership and built into the sales process.  Here’s what buyers need to know:

  • $3,500 off new electric vehicles with an MSRP up to $50,000

  • $1,750 off used electric vehicles sold for up to $25,000 through manufacturers’ preowned vehicle programs.

  • The rebate is open to any Californian buying or leasing their first ZEV, (Zero-emission Electric Vehicle).

  • The rebate does not include hybrid vehicles or PHEVs, (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle).
  • The rebate is presented by the dealer selling their brand of new or used EV. The rebate is not available for a used Hyundai sold by a Chevrolet dealer.

Californians can explore options, learn about charging, and find a dealer at www.electricforall.org.
